COVID-19 impact on IRTA analyzed

IRTA’s director Josep Usall analyzed the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having in IRTA. Many projects, including PIGSs, are experiencing delays due to work restrictions and prioritization of COVID-19 activities. 

He highlighted the essential role of science and the agri-food sector during this health emergence. Never before research was shared so rapidly, and not only among researchers, but also with the rest of society. The food chain has worked smoothly to guarantee normal access to food and reduce the risk of shortages. Both sectors have left a positive impact in society and he is confident that the post-pandemic framework will be favorable for research. 

During the same meeting, researchers Joaquim Segales and Julia Vergara presented the COVID-19 activities being performed at CReSA (animal health program of IRTA).
